NM Vignettes --Joys of a Road Trip

Evidently one cannot be married, have a significant other, or be entangled in any way to get into the Sunflower Theatre in Cortez, Colorado.


David and I certainly agreed with this sign. As soon as we finished a delicious and enormous lunch at Once Upon a Sandwich in Cortez, we headed across the street for a bit of frozen deliciousness.
Intriguing signs and one-of-a-kind restaurants are two of the joys of a road trip. Another one, of course, is that you may travel through countryside that prompts you to stop the car by the side of the road to record a sight you didn't expect to see. Here are a few we enjoyed:
When traveling in this part of New Mexico, it is clear where the artist Georgia O'Keefe received her inspiration.

Although we couldn't get close to Shiprock, we enjoyed seeing it rise out of the desert like some phantom sailboat.
